WORLD TITLE FIGHTS TOP THE BILL AS DISRUPT HOSTS BIG NIGHT OF BOXING IN DUBAI

Jazza Dickens defends his IBO world featherweight title against Hector Andres Sosa

Muhammad Waseem and Donnie Nietes compete for the vacant IBO bantamweight world title

Top-tier boxing returns to Dubai next month with a stellar card featuring two world title fights and elite-level talents such as Jazza Dickens, Donnie Nietes, Muhammad Waseem and Hector Andres Sosa, plus many more.

Disrupt Promotions stages its maiden UAE event on Saturday July 22 at Dubai Studio City’s Sound Stage 3, with tickets available to purchase now, starting from 75 AED.

In the night’s main event, Liverpool’s Dickens (32-4, 12 knockouts) defends his IBO world featherweight title against Argentinian challenger Sosa (15-2, 8 knockouts).

Dickens, 32, claimed the vacant belt in his most recent outing, last October, when he overcame the challenge of South Africa’s Lerato Dlamini courtesy of a unanimous points decision.

Elsewhere, the vacant IBO bantamweight world title will be on the line when Pakistan’s Waseem (12-2, 8 knockouts) takes on Filipino legend Nietes (43-2-6, 23 knockouts), a former four-weight world champion, in what promises to be a pulsating clash.

Talented super-lightweight Arthur Biyarslanov (12-0, 10 knockouts) is also in action as he puts his undefeated record on the line.

Having competed in the 2016 Olympics, Biyarslanov has caught the eye with multiple impressive performances since turning professional in 2018, and the fact 10 of his 12 victories have been secured via knockout indicates the level of power in the 28-year-old’s wrists.

Other fighters confirmed for the event include Ukrainian featherweight Arnold Khegai (19-1-1, 11 knockouts), Ghanaian super-featherweight Alfred Lamptey (12-0, 8 knockouts), Kazakhstan’s Tyrsynbay Kalakhmet (4-1, 3 knockouts) and India’s Faizan Anwar (15-0, 7 knockouts), who defeated Harley Benn last month.

In addition, the UAE’s Fahad Al Bloushi (11-1, 2 knockouts) is set to perform on home turf while Jack Turner (1-0, 1 knockout), a British super-bantamweight who made his professional debut in Dubai last month, is also in action.

Disrupt Promotions said: “To headline our maiden UAE event with two world title fights is fantastic news and it’s a show we are really looking forward to.

“Jazza Dickens is not only a household name, but also a terrific fighter, and his title defence against Hector Andres Sosa, a talented boxer, is sure to capture the imagination of fight fans in Dubai.

“The bout between Muhammad Waseem and Donnie Nietes is hugely exciting and with large Pakistani and Filipino communities in Dubai, we expect both fighters to be well supported on the night.

“The whole card is packed full of talent, with the likes of Arthur Biyarslanov, Faizan Anwar and Alfred Lamptey yet to experience defeat in their professional careers so far.

“Tickets are on sale now and we urge fans to purchase as soon as possible.”

Disrupt Promotions launched earlier this year and held its inaugural event in Uzbekistan last weekend, featuring the likes of Paul Butler, Steven Cairns and Yan Marcos.

The Dubai show will be followed by a number of other events across the globe between now and the end of the year.
